In a series LCR circuit the frequency of the source is half of the resonance frequency. Then how can I comment about the nature of the circuit,,,like whether it is capacative or inductive or purely resistive??

let Ï‰₀ be resonant frequency (angular).
actual frequency =Ï‰ (<Ï‰₀)

thus X_L =LÏ‰ < LÏ‰₀

and X_C = 1Ï‰C > 1Ï‰₀C

hence clearly circuit is capacitive
