General...

Just random thoughts coming to my mind...

1) We know tht in CuSO4.5H2O 4water moecules are coordinated n 1 is H-bonded.
So when the hydrated salt is heated, initially, one water molecule remains. Is this the H-bonded one ?

2) In bleaching powder, CaOCl2, is Chlorine in "0" oxid.n state ?
I've heard smthing like one Cl is in +1 n the other in -1, so its avg. O.S. is zero. Is tht rite ?

2) CaOCl2 exists as CaCl(ClO)
i.e. two anions Cl- and ClO-

So oxidation states are -1 and +1 respectively

Presence of ClO- can be confirmed by adding a stronger acid eg. sulfuric acid
