out of water and HF, water has higher BP.

what in case of water and ammonia???

@ manipal, the reason for strenght of H bonds in water is its 3 d bonding, which is stronger than 2 d(in HF)......

while, in ammonia as well as water, both have 3 d bonding...and what is the basis of the rule that u told???

In the case of ammonia, the amount of hydrogen bonding is limited by the fact that each nitrogen only has one lone pair. In a group of ammonia molecules, there aren't enough lone pairs to go around to satisfy all the hydrogens.
