13sindoor is not that poisonous...that it will kill you like KCN(don't try this at home) ...anirudh....[9]
but it is not that good for skin.....
3eureka my grandgrand mother lived for abt 98yrs
she used kumkum for abt more than 70yrs
this fact was told to me by my father da
24in older days it was poisonous dear.....thats why indian ladies had very short life span........but now it has been banned,,,,

11Arey yaar. I'm doing a chem project on turmeric powder. And i learnt that kumkum is prepared by mixing turmeric powder with slaked lime and then dried..........I don't remember the rest.
If u want to test, take some turmeric powder and add it to an alkaline solution, u'll get a red coloured solution[4]
