velocity in space

suppose there are two objects in space will they will follow the newtons law of motion?

if yes then
if a two body of equal masses
one is at rest nd another moving in a isolated system
both strikes
the rest one moves with the velocity of the first moving one
is this possible?
then it is also possible that what we saw 10 days back will be the same or it may be another body of same mass? will it follow the law of inertia?

in space we see that a body of small collected pieces after being striked goes again to its back position and a huge body of a single piece scatters

why?
