waves : statement from ncert

Guys i can't understand/agree this statement....
pls help me......

Relative to an observer at rest in a medium the speed of a mechanical wave in that medium(v) depends only on elastic and other properties (such as mass density) of the medium. It does not depend on the velocity of the source.

If the observer is at rest, the relative speed of the sound in that medium wrt to observer remains the same.[basics of relative velocity]

Don't confuse yourself with the fact that the frequency of sound changes when the source is moving.
The apparent change in frequency is only due to change in wavelength, and not due to change in velocity.
