single ans correct ??

SiCl4 .
→ octet complete
→ can provide vacant orbitals.
→ max coordination num. not reached.

So can undergo hydrolysis.
final product after hydrolysis is ---

H4SiO4 + 4 HCl.

Ok. get the question right , first.

It says, which is stable towards hydrolysis. that means which is unreactive towards hydrolysis.

then, rightly the answer is NF3 , as :

i) N-F bond strength is too high to be broken by water molecules.

ii) ders no vacant d- orbitals , fr the water molecules to provide its lone pair to.

So NCl3 hydrolyses by bond breaking ??

No. Cl hs vacant d- orbital. thus, hydrolysis occurs by transfer of lone pair of H2O to vacant d - orbital of Cl.

ok...thx.....i was thinking analogous to N-F and couldnt find any palce to hydrolyse..[3]
