coordination of Cr here is 12

the structure is similar to that of ferrocene

so 12/2 = 6

@avik.. then how can u say that coord no. of Fe in ferrocene is 10 (although ive not seen u say taht [3])

Î 6 means 6 hepticity..i.e the metal is attached to 6 carbon atoms...
and since the formula is
[Cr(Ï€6-C6H6)2 ] so that means the metal is attached to 12 carbon atoms..coordination no. 12 ..
