Why elements of first transition series possess many properties different from those of heavier transition elements.

yeh d electrons kam hain. next is f electrons will be present in higher waale. next is varios effects such as innert pair etc etc.

Ans) In the first transition series, the lower oxn state is more stable where as in Higher transition elements, higher oxn states are more stable. The Ionisation enthalapy of 5 d transition series is higher than 3d and 4d transition series.

Moreover, M - M bonding is most common in heavier transition metals but less in first series. The elements of first transition series do not form complexes with higher C.N of 7 & 8. The elements of first series can form high spin or low spin complexes depending upon the strength of ligands but elements of other series form low spin complex irrespective of strength of ligands.
