in a simple pendulum the breaking strength of the string is double the weight of the bob. the bob is released from rest when string is horizontal. if the sting breaks when it makes an angle ∞ with the vertical. then find ∞.

71Of Course the string will break, Since at the lowermost point, the Tension in the string connected to bob is coming around 3mg which exceeds the breaking strength.
So use Energy conservation for any angle α and you'll get your result.
