For projectiles, two things are most important..

1) Realization that acceleration is generally along one axis only
2) Equations of motion
s=ut+1/2at2
v=u+at
v2=u2+2as

but more importantly
The following
v=dx/dt
a=dv/dt
a=dv/dx x dx/dt = v.dv/dx

Derivation of the above the first three reactions

Using the above,

You should be able to find
v(t)
x(t)
y(t)
a(t)

generally a(t) for our studies will be constant. Like gravity does not change with time, unless we are into space and dealing with large distances. (This comes in Gravitation chapter and not in projectiles) but sometimes application of this is also needed.
