AIEEE 2010 doubt

Ionisation energy of He+ is 19.6 × 10–18 J/atom. The energy of the first stationary state (n = 1) of Li2+ is?

Using E = -2.18 x 10^-18 * Z2/n2 gives a wrong answer. What is the problem?

u hav to use the given Ionisation energy in the quesn to find the value of RZ2 .....

19.6 *10-18=K

then find (K/22)(32/12)

thats fine but why doesnot the formula work?

that is because this is just a hypothetical case where the R value is not equal to that generally taken! :)
