Here is some hint for this question. This question is bit lengthy.

dvdt=-(v²u²)dudt

At any time t,
u =f-gt²2
and v = (f+gt²)f(f-gt²)

Putting these values in equation we are going to get velocity of the image as a function of t.

v_i=((f+gt²)4f(f-gt²)²)²(gt)

After that all you want to maximize it.

If any one have some other easier method ..plz post it.
