Column-I gives certain situations regarding a point object and its image formed by an optical instrument. Consider direction of incident ray as positive x-direction. The possible optical instruments are concave and convex mirrors or lenses as given in Column-II.

Where u = x-coordinate of object v = x-coordinate of image y0 = y-coordinate of object and yi = y-coordinate of image.

(A) If u × v = negative and y0 × yi = positive then the optical instrument is

(B) If u × v = positive and y0 × yi = positive then the optical instrument is

(C) If u × v = positive and y0 × yi = negative then the optical instrument is

(D) If u × v = negative and y0 × yi = negative then the optical instrument is

(P) Concave mirror

(Q) Convex mirror

(R) Concave lens

(S) Convex lens

(T) Plane mirror
