Central fringe of interference pattern produced by light of wavelength 6000A is found to shift to position of 4th dark fringe after glass sheet of refractive index=1.5 is introduced.Find thickness of glass sheet.

see, 4th dark fringe =(2X4+1)λD/2d = 9λD/2d =y

now, Δx = yd/D

put y value here.

then u will get Δx.

now this shift is due to the slab ...

shift prodused by slab = μt

equate n get 't' .. :)

Didi you are completely wrong
Δx=(2n-1) λ /2 =( μ -1)t

which gives t=4.2 μm
