in 3 they are asking which compound will give Tollen's test..
2-butyne does NOT react,,only 1-Butyne does.
formaldehyde reacts.
ethyne reacts.
propyne does not react ( not sure).

yeah in q3 ..tollens test....tell me what are u getting ??my answer key says a diff story..

hey 4 is Wurtz synthesis ..
A - butane (major product as this is primary halide)
B - ethane
C - ethene
B and C are side products as substitution is preferred here.

for 1st question I thing it is nitrobenzene,bcoz due to presence of deactivating nitro group it does not give friedel caft reaction

Q1. Those substances can be used as solvents which themselves are not affected by the reactants or reagents. Here the reactants/reagents are R-X or R-COCl and a lewis acid such as AlCl3.

Now, nitrobenzene being highly deactivated does not show this reaction so it can be used as a solvent.

In the case of others, the solvent itself wil react with reagents to give product not desired at all
