how alkyne are less reactive than alkene?

vinylic cation formed by alkyne is less stable than alkyl cation formed by alkene.alkyne are less reactive than alkene toward electrophilic reagent but are more reactive toward nucliophilic reagent.
in addition C-C bond length in alkyne get shorter than in alkene.but i still confused.anybody tell me more about it

alkynes are less reactive because π electron are not exposed easily towards electrophilic reagents.
