arre yaar..(A) has no oxygen so the molecular formula is different!! [3][3]

and yeah if the doulbe bnded atom is oxygen....A aldehyde
B..ketone
C...alcohol....(enol)
D...epoxy compound unsure

now whch is not a functional isomer is none of these according to me!!![3][3]

i thnk he by mistake left that O in option (A)
Me didn't notice that [3] so i had taken that earlier as aldehyde group

@ Subhomoy..that may be a mistake...so i took it as an aldehydic group..

@ Aveek : I think 2 and 3 are tautomers and even though the medium is NOT given here , we can say that in 90 % cases the keto form will be more stable than the enol form..so the the compound 3 [enol] will automatically rearrange to form 2 [keto]..so 3 is actually NOT stable and doesnt exist as such..so I think it is [C]...

but still C is a functional isomer of the given formula existent or not doesnt matter!!!

jsgenius is correct..!!

This question lacks certain amount of clarity. Still, if all the cases given are feasible, as in this question, we can go the way jsgenius has explained. It is the only alternative.

btw, (c) exists only to the extent of 3% in a mixture of (b) and (c) in suitable solvent

if something doesn't exist as such and exists only in very very rare cases..in questions like this which asks the general ans , we can easily put ans as [C]
