NCERT Nomenclature Ghapla..!!

lol...pehle waale mein lowest sum rule aur doosre mein priority. NCERT ki jai ho. [9]
Epoxy (-O-) functional group has very low priority, even below triple bond but above halogens. I suppose that's why NCERT believes it can assign it as locant as well as functional group, but that ruins the purpose of unique nomenclature...

iupac's software gives names as
(1) 2,2-dimethylcyclohexyl ethyl ether
2-ethoxy-1,1-dimethylcyclohexane

(2) 4,4-dimethylcyclohexyl ethyl ether
4-ethoxy-1,1-dimethylcyclohexane

so obviously second waala is wrong.. (i think IUPAC's naming device is reliable enough)

oooooo looks like we touched a nerve! haha

And... U can't deny IUPAC either.
(It is the IUPAC only naa tht takes care of all the nomenclature........ or the NCERT Prof. .....? :P)

Furthermore, if tht is correct Vivek,

Then how come both be Correct ??

yaar/yaari m not sure :P :P :P..........vivek.......attitude is good......but the same question was asked sometime back by me last year....n we concluded same.....n it is not anyone insulting got it?????rules r rules.......be it NCERT or even IUPAC........mistake is mistake......nothing bout being rude...........

n this is a thimg use that attitude to help draw some conclusions not to just heat up things [1][1][1][1]

Lowest sum rule has been found to hold valid in many cases.... BUT THE MAIN RULE IS THAT OF THE PRIORITY RULE.......
Please read the fine print in between the lines....
AND NEXT TIME YOU INSULT NCERT BOOKS REMEMBER THAT THEY ARE WRITTEN BY SOME OF THE FINEST PROFESSORS IN INDIA AND IN THE WORLD PRESENTLY....

TO INSULT THE NCERT BOOKS YOU NEED TO GO TO THEIR LEVEL AND DEICATIONS.
