fehlin's solution is an equimolar mix of fehlin A and fehlin B solution werin
fehlinA is : cupric sulphate
B:sodium potassium tartarate (roschell salt)
itz used 2 distnquish betwn aldehydes and ketones ketones dnt rxt wid it b aldehyde does ...and gives a red ppt of cuporous oxide

the tartarate ion forms a complex preventing precipitation of some ion .I think it shoulod be Cu+

I verified it in wiki , the tartarate ion prevent sprecipitation of Cu2+
