Y do we call it as 3,5-di methyl heptane>?
y can' t we call it as 2,4-diethly pentane?

1bcoz in nomenclature, we always take the longest chain. here taking 2,4-diethly pentane would give us 5 carbon alkane group while taking 3,5-di methyl heptane will gv us 7 membered carbon chain. i hope i cleared u?
