CHEM BONDING DOUBT :)

1. IN PCl5 ALL BONDS ARE EQUIVALENT AND HAVE SAME BOND LENGTH <TRUE/FALSE> EXPLAIN WITH DIAGRAM :)

2. HOW HYBRIDISATION EFFECTS BOND LENGTH , DOES IT MAKES ALL OF THEM EQUAL AND EQIVALENT .. PLEASE EXPLAIN . :)

1.) false.

the equatorial bonda are shorter than axial ones.

this is to minimise e-e repulsion..

since axial bond angles is less [90deg].. so to minimise the repulsion effect the bond lengths increases..

hybridisation doesnt make all of them equal.. rather resonance does..

now the 2nd past

Hybridization is basically a process of mixing the atomic orbitals of different energies.
They r helpful in studying the shapes ans sizes of the atomic orbitals of the molecules.
Hybridization basically concerns with the geometry ,bond angle ,structure of the molecule
