a saturated solution of a sparingly soluble salt, MCl2 has a vapour pressure of 31.78 mm of Hg at 30 degrees., while pure water exerts a pressure of 31.82 mm of Hg at sam e temperature. Calculate the solubility product of the compound at the same temperature.

n2/n1 = 0.04/31.82

for n1=55.55 [wen mass of water is 1000gm]

n2= 0.04X55.55/31.82 = 0.0698

now,

MCl2 ----------> M+ + 2CL-
n2 0 0

Mcl2 ------------> M+ + 2CL-
0 n2 n2

now, Ksp = n2. n2
