electronic configuration-bond order

to find bond order, we have to write the electronic configuration in accordance with molecuar orbital theory.

can anyone please explain me how to write the electronic configuration in accordance with molecular orbital theory.

first σ2s then σ*2s then σ2p then σ*2p then there is some changes for no. of electrons >14 or <14..
which even i dont know... i mean i knew but not ive forgotten...

just see and tell na, i need till watever will be asked, i have never seen them going abouve 20 electrons.

mostly they givi nitrogen and oxygen related only na.

till no. of electrons is less than 15 i.e. ≤14
order is
σ1s, σ*1s, σ2s, σ*2s, then (Π2px and Π2py), σ2pz , (Π*2px and Π*2py), σ*2pz

if > 14,

σ1s, σ*1s, σ2s, σ*2s, σ2pz ,then (Π2px and Π2py), (Π*2px and Π*2py), σ*2pz

hey u will calculate the bond order by MOT for di atomic compounds only

for more than two atoms u will go via VBT and bond order is AVERAGE NO OF BONDS PER SYSTEM

basically bond order is just the average no of bonds only MOT helps us to find the real structure of the given comp
as in case of NO it will be 2.5

NB: for single electron bond the bond order is 0.5
for two electron bond the bond order is 1
for three electron bond the bond order is 1.5

keep theese in mind and u can directly calculate the bond order if TRUE
structure is known
