0.85 gram of saturated hydrocarbon is burnt completely in excess ofO2 gas and all CO2(g) evolved were absorbed in 100ml of NaOH solution. The solution was then separated into two equal parts by volume. One part of the solution required 20 ml of a 1.0 M HCl solution in the presence of Phenolphthalein indicator. Other part of the solution required 50 ml of same HCl solution to reach the end point when methyl orange indicator was used. Determine molecular formula of the hydrocarbon and molarity of The original NaOH solution.
