Solutions

100 mL of aqueous solution of glucose with osmotic pressure 1.2 atm at 25°C is mixed with 300 mL of aquous solution of urea at 2.4 atm at 25°C. the osmotic pressure of the mixture will be

1. 1.1 atm
2. 2.6 atm
3. 1.68 atm

for glucose , initial conc. be a
therefore final conc. , c = 100100+300*a = a/4 (due to increase in total vol.)

for urea, initial conc =b
final conc ,d= 300300+100*b = 3b/4

total pressure = dRT + cRT
= 3/4 * bRT + 1/4*aRT
= 3/4*(2.4) + 1/4*(1.2) (since bRT=2.4 and aRT =1.2)
= 2.1 atm
