States of matter

A closed vertical cylinder is divided into two parts by a frictionless piston, each part contains one mole of air. At 27°C, the volume of the upper part is 4 times the volume of the lower part. Calculate the temperature at which the volume of the upper part is 3 times the volume of the lower part..

ARE YAAR LAGTA HAI KAL JAISIE AKSHAY KE KARAN SHAAM GAYI VAISE HI AAJ BHI JAYEGI..

OK...LEAVE IT.

NOW
U WILL GET FINAL ANS. WHEN U PUT C AND Cf VALUES IN IT.

I SAY C AND Cf ARE DIFF.......UNDERSTOOD.(DIFF. TEMP)

U DON'T KNOW C ,U DON'T KNOW Cf
SO IN YOUR FINAL EQUATION U CAN'T PUT THEIR VALUES.

SO U CAN'T GET THE ANSWER.U DID NOT CONSIDER THESE CONSTANT AND SO GOT THE ANSWER(WRONG) BY WRONG METHOD.........I THINK NOW U UNDERSTOOD HOW I ACCOUNT FOR THIS.

11
Anirudh Narayanan ·

so how will u account for the different constants??

1
JOHNCENA IS BACK ·

at 148.875 degree celcius

1
JOHNCENA IS BACK ·

OK

SEE IN UR SOLU. U URSELF SAID THAT
P IS INV. PROP. TO V...RIGHT

SO,NOW THERE IS A CONSTANT C ALSO INVOLVED IN P VALUE....OK.

IN LATER CASE (UPPER VOL. 3TIMES CASE) THERE ALSO A CONSTANT Cf INVOLVED. Cf IS DIFF. FROM C AS IN TWO CASE TEMP. IS DIFFFERENT.

YOU DID NOT CONSIDER THIS IN UR SOLU. THAT'S WHY WRONG ANS.

dg, find the mistake in my solution da

1
JOHNCENA IS BACK ·

of course,at first i did not post the solution as there wud hav been no point in posting wrong solution if my ans. was wrong.

method-

first calculate initial pressure of upper and lower parts.A be area of cross section of piston.

then,we have
P(low)A=P(up)A+mg

calculate mg.

then calculate final pressure of upper and lower parts.

then,
Pf(low)A=Pf(up)A+mg

all variables except temp. will get cancelled
and u get finally

32T=13500(in K)
i.e.T=148.875 deg.celcius.

Anirudh Narayanan ·

bhaiya, why did u pink me???? i said i got the wrong answer!!!

11
Anirudh Narayanan ·

"btw" means "by the way"
