WHY ???????????????

why the temp of liquid will fall during evaporation of the liquid???
actually ,,, is it all true that the temp will fall ???

may be due to d sudden increase in d entropy????????????? but is it true tht temp falls???? i just kno tht it has a cooling effect....tht is when we sweat and d water evaporates it takes d heat away ... but never heard tht temp of d liquid fall when it is evaporated.........
moreover ive heard tht steam at 100°c causes more burnings than water at 100°c..................

wat has steam at 100deg got to do wid this question ? i din get you...

dat must be rit akand.. since it changes frm liquid 2 vapour state there s a change in entropy....

I don't think it decreases always... When evaporation takes place, the liquid gains some energy from the solution mixture and hence the cooling effect. If it takes a large amount of energy, then i think temperature will decrease..

Hey pot(Ghada) works on this principle....
When water evaporates it cools..

Actually why water evaporates?

Water molecules are randomly moving and collide among themselves so when a molecule gets enough energy it escapes or evaporates....

So a molecule escapes with energy so net energy inside decreases...
so temperature of liquid falls....

cos always molecules with KE greater than bulk KE escape
thereby lowering avg KE , temp

this was an 8 th std Q in our school;)

you know that evaporation is as good as boiling except that it takes place at all temp . so it also has to get that latent heat . to go into vapour state . so it absorbs energy from the other liquid molecules to get that energy and vapourises. so there is a net loss of energy of the liquid molecules. so it's temp decreases.

The q may come that if water vapour also had the same amoutn of heat as steam why it doesn't cause the same damage ? I don't know.:P
