APply force balance:

(σ-ρ)V.g=ρ V a (V is the volume; there is boyant force in upward direction and gravity in downward)

a=(σ/ρ-1)g

We know initial velocity as √2gh

Now we have to find s using

v2=u2+2as

ans = ρh/(ρ-σ)

@ nishant sir ,

i think acceleration of body in tank would be

a = (1-σ/ρ)g

dimnsion, i think there should be no 2 on the numerator!

and it should be -ve of what u have!
