Water Equivalent

Please exp wrt this problem.

A piece of iron of mass 100g is kept inside a furnance for long time and thn put in a calorimeter of water equi of 10g containin 240g of water at 20°C.Mixture attains equilibrium temp at 60°C. Jus explain no need of the answer.

if x grams of water takes up or releases same amount of heat as m grams of a substance for the same change in temperature, then

x is said to be the water equivalent of m grams of the substance!! :) :)

so..providing water equivalent of a substance is equivalent to giving Heat capaciity of the substance!! (NOT specific heat capacity...i said ONLY heat capacity!)

simply add 240+10=250...it will ease ur pressure.
