Colours again!

Colours in complexes are decided by the constituents of the coordination sphere, right? So why do K4[Fe(CN)6] and Fe2[Fe(CN)6] differ in colour though coordination sphere is intact?

see ma very first post... i meant d same............

Yes, this is the reason, the Oxidation number of the metal ion is different and that is the deciding factor...........

If that's the deciding factor, then in my q deciding factor is the same. Then why Colour change?

config fr both d counter ions differ...........

K4[Fe(CN)6] and Fe2[Fe(CN)6]
here the coordination spheres are different...........
they are not same.
K4[Fe(CN)6] is actually K4[Fe(CN)6]4-
and Fe2[Fe(CN)6] is Fe2[Fe(CN)6]6-

so the colours are different........
got it.........

Counter ions do not belong nor contribute to the properties exhibited by the coordination sphere

Ohhhhh
Thats enough!!

Now i think its enough as everyone now knows that their color are different and I don't think this will be asked anywhere expect FIITJEE AITS :P.....
Perhaps this is among other exceptions of Chemistry and we should accept it as this..

It doesn't make a sense to waste our time on a single question...as the concept (whichever will be involved) will help in no other questions other than this..

leave d co sphere now.. they r similar... put dat out of ur brain....

ox state for d counter ions r different..............

so color differs...

bye....
ba bye...
ba ba bye...............

no more cross questions..............

askin cross question is an offence..........

Aragorn, iron outside the coordination sphere is Fe3+ and not Fe2+ coz Fe22+[Fe(CN)6]4- doesn't exit.. I've checked it.......
