THEN... distance of mass frm d earth s very less.. so dat d distance between there centres of them r also less coz d mass s very smallllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll.........

ram kumar the distance between the mass s r about 6400km and the mass is of the 1024kgs assume that the 2m mass is a point object

There will be deceleration due to the earth. So it won't go till center of mass of the system.

yes i accept ur answer. But if the collision between the masses were elastic then the 2m mass will not get inside the surface. i have a doubt in general will any two bodies under the mutual force should only at their centre of mass and we should not take care about the type of collision

hey sanki..........u sure the solution or d answer is rite........coz i dont see any flaw in aragorns answer......................F=G(M)(2M)/R2..F=Ma so a=2GM/R2
so....s=ut+1/2at2....
and h=1/2*2gm/R2*t2......
so t=√h/g..........wat mistake cud be ther??

11
Anirudh Narayanan ·

I'm ready too...............

LETS BEGIN

if u r thinkin bout centre of masses and all.......wat diff will it make???? the force is still d same...........even if d earth moves it wont matter much as h<<<R.......so it may move a centimetre or so.....

11
Anirudh Narayanan ·

Hey ,akand. You are proceeding thinking that the mvement of earth is negligible. But it's not so as both have comparable masses. Earth's mass= M
then mass's mass= 2M
(Sorry fr the english!)
