this is an old trick sankara..

If the question was

x1+x2+x3+...xk=n

then the number of non negative solutions is given by

(n+k-1)Ck

Can u try to find the proof... else i will do it for u...

okie.. gr8 :)

see the proof is this...

there are n numbers of balls...

And you have to divide them into k parts..

so u have to put k-1 dividers (seperators) between these n balls...

So there are k-1 objects of 1 kind and n objects of another

Hence u have to arrange n+k-1 objects

of which k-1 are identical :)
