Q. what will be the condition if both roots are negative ?

1. D> 0
2. a f (0) >0
3. -b/2a >0............................. is the 3rd point corect ? i feel it wil be -b/2a < 0..

pls tel me the answer n explain me.

if both roots are negative ... then -b/2a < 0 as sum of the roots is -ve so its half will also be negative..

D>0 as the roots are real

and 0 will lie outside the roots... so f(0) will have same sign as a
hence a*f(0) > 0

There will be three conditions for the two roots to be negative.

1. Discriminant, D > 0
2. Sum of roots , -b/a < 0
3. Product of roots, c/a >0
