From an external point draw two tangents to the circle or parabola etc..
The line joining the points of intersection of tangents and circle is called chord of contact.

arey how to find the locus??

the S= x2+y2-r2

then the chord of contact of the tangents drawn from a point P(x1,y1) is

S1=xx1+yy1-r2

write x2 as xx1, y2 as yy1, 2gx as g(x+x1), 2fy as f(y+y1).

chord of contact is nothing but just the line joining the points of intersection of pair of tangents from any external point.

For any curve with the eqn. of its tangent T

eqn. of chord of contact is T = 0

and if the mid point of any chord is known then its eqn. is T = S1 where T is the eqn. of its tangent and s is the eqn. of the curve.
