least possible value

f(x,y) = x2-y2+2x+4y-12

ok ? .this is the curve or anything ! [4]

NOW,

IF r is the radius of the circle which touches the curve f(x,y)=0, y=x+1 and y=-x+3, then the least possible value of 'r' (in units) approximately is WHAT ?

x2-y2+2x+4y-12=0

(x+1)2-(y-2)2=9

Now the shifting of coordinates is the best method that you can use

subs x+1=X

y-2=Y

so we get equations as

X2-Y2=9
Y+2=X
and Y+X=2

Now I think you can do it?
