How were we supposed to solve those lengthy Olympiad type Maths questions without sheets to write on? Can we have an IIT prof demonstrate how that can be done?

Don't even think about re-examination just for one subject and screwup of the ORS. You never know, the paper might be even tougher than it was on sunday.
As per advice of kamal da, concentrate on your exams ahead. JEE will take care of itself. It's not the end of the world if you don't get IIT.

i also support re-xam....... par lagta nahi aisa hoga :(

sriraghav ·

It wont happen even if 50 pc ask iits for re exam.... i think u have to concentrate on aieee or whichever is ahead. Sometimes Q paper may b difficult or lengthy -but it is for everyone...still the competition remains the same among the good ones and the average...but with a very little difference!

there cannot be a re exam
not possible
so no use of dreaming when everybody knows that they wil not be fulfilled....

as per the conversation with jee director 30% of the students dont get any information regarding OMR sheet and thats a huge number and they are discussing two possibilities either scrapping paper 1 or re- exam (unlikely option) but they are assuring whatever happens will be in the interest of students only

@ Sriraghav

I don think it is a matter of difficult or lengthy paper,matter is actually that the paper was not testing IQ of the student at all,only his temperament,muggung ability and how fast and confident he is in calculations.

1
gagar.iitk ·

one more thing the students which dont get the information must write a letter to any of the iit's directors about what happened

@everyone.....
though math was higher than our level..and with no space to solve ,it was tuff task....but we arent disastified with tuffness/pattern etc etc as much ....than lack of clarity....

a full blown tuff paper wouldnt have raised that many eyebrows as this flawed marking scheme paper did......

and everyone knows who is gonna gain max through that system ....remeber last yr 20% seats went vacant after counselling ....who do u think got those seats ????i am not here for blame game..but everyone knows whats reality in a corrupt country like ours

re exam will always be tuffer..but atleast we will be clear what to do...

even if we laeave all those statements that ""everyone will get 93 marks for free""....
but think about some genuine guy,who marked all 4 options,wasting 3-4 mins or even more on it..sacrificing other ques becoz lure of no negative couldnt stop him from trying them,,and then being told by organisers after exam that those who mark 4 options will be given zero ,and wont be given access to even partial marks...(remmebr that thermo ques ??jury is still out on taht ...some say ans is abcd and some say only two options...)

this isnt a small issue anyways.......

how is OMR going to decide who is liar and who is genuine ????OMR isnt god ..or is it ??

eureka123 ·

@akshay....ya thats the issue

@gagar sir..is it true ?????plz i am praying for re-exam ....

But how would scrapping paper 1 help
prob was in both the papers

1
sriraghav ·

@Akshay
It is what many of my friends felt- paper 1 was bit lengthy and 2 was difficult(esp in maths)

1
Akshay Pamnani ·

@ Sriraghav
that will be for all
that's not the prob
JEE is supposed to check your application of concepts using IQ
but only a small fraction of questions needed that,most of the questions were seen ones requiring basic formulae without thinking much
plz read my earlier post in How was the ppr thread,and then I think u will get wat am I trying to say really

1
sriraghav ·

yeah ...i agree wit u Akshy....many Q were based on memory

so then wat is the real diffrence between AIEEE and IITJEE??
adding to that AIEEE does not even have OMR errors and confusing marking schemes
How does then IITJEE maintains it's reputation in this paper

Though I am not in favor of re exam personally coz by God's Grace I have not that done the worst I could
I am satisfied with wat I would get

I think re-exam is a distant dream, almost impossible. All we can do is to write to the IITs or raise our voices...n such stuff. But personally, I feel that at this present moment we should concentrate on the coming exams. I know many of you (especially the drop-outs like me) are pissed at the paper, but it is better to look ahead.

@ gagar.iitk
aapko info kahan se mili??

aposlil ·

He's an IItian...must have got some inside story..[12]

Please guys I think this is important....

I can understand everyone who wants a re-exam (even I would have liked to have it) but it is practically non feasible to conduct the whole exam of that magnitude all over again.
More - so because say out of 4.72 lakhs only about 6 - 8 thousand are the serious contenders so even if you have a majority of 4 lakhs on your side it is useless.
Maybe they would've thought of the idea if both sessions were equally ugly (paper II was decently OK)
So the best thing we can do now is have faith and leave it to them ( like gaurav bhaiya said whatever will be done will be in the interests of the students)

I am not saying to not do anything at all. I'm sure some measures will be taken - like maybe they could cancel paper I......or cancel section II of paper I or something like that...
A whole re exam will be a bit too much to dream of

PS : I am yet to meet a guy who is happy with anything at all about JEE 2010

1
aposlil ·

Yeah philip...thats true.

1
Akshay Pamnani ·

ya but IIT should at least tell wat they are doing and I really doubt that
pata nahi kahan se kya rank allot kar de and we will don't even now

1
aposlil ·

I'm sure they'll come out with an statement within a few days.
