The HRM does need to bring in some reform to relieve the stress on students and parents. But this is not it.

If they are trying to ape the US system, they must fully understand that the system there is a very robust one. There, if you want to take up a course which studies UFO sightings, you would be very welcome to it! (I am not making this up, I read this yesterday, but cant find the reference). No one would sneer at you. In our society, alternative academic streams are yet to take off. The SAT exam is only the basic criterion for selection. A lot many things are considered before admission is given in the good colleges.

If their aim is to reduce stress due to the coaching colleges, take a direct crack at them instead of harassing students by an indirect approach. Issue strict guidelines on fees, timings etc. Nishant Sir has said it and I second him, the JEE no longer needs the insane effort that coaching institutes make you think is necessary. And look at the lifestyles of the teachers. One student from Chaitanya College told me that his math teacher drives around in a Skoda! That makes me livid as I have seen the quality of teaching that student is receiving (he stayed with me three days and declared I was far better! And I was teaching him for free for God's sake!) They can take a huge cut in their salaries, proportionate to their abilities and it will hurt no one. If Obama can do this with healthcare moguls in US, why should it be difficult with private coaching in India?

@prophet Sir : I have never seen anyone literally take words out of my mouth....but if anything even comes close it has to be your post #91.

JEE is actually a matter of great importance to the IIT's themselves. There is no reason why they should not take sufficient interest...
there was maybe the possibility of some interference that was uncalled for at a wrong time.

Bihar's Super 30 demands re-conduct of IIT-JEE
By Indo Asian News Service | 15 April 2010 | 8:51pm 0 Comment

Patna, April 15 (IANS) Super 30, a city-based free coaching centre for the economically poor, has demanded the re-conduct of the Indian Institute of Technology-Joint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEE) following blunders in Hindi version which they say will severely hamper chances of those who attempted the question paper in that language.

Anand Kumar, director-cum-founder of Super 30, told IANS: 'It was high time IIT-JEE should conduct a fresh examination in view of blunders that would badly hit prospects of hundreds of students from Hindi speaking states.'

The entrance exam to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology was held Sunday.

'Such blunders could ruin the prospects of students from poor and rural background. ITT-JEE should think of taking a re-examination.' he said.

Vivek Kumar, who appeared for the exam, said the errors in instructions of the Hindi version of the question papers will cost students 48 marks.

'I am not alone, there are thousands like me who will be hit hard by blunders in instructions of Hindi version,' he said.

I am really supporting re-exam...... I mean we get info about ors sheet after long time.
Instructions r not proper ...... and how can we manage such lengthy paper with so less working sheets ....
I think all of us should write to IIT........ How can they do such blunders ......i mean in IIT?????
we dont get even 2 marks as grace in boards & this IIT-Kharagpur fellow is saying that any clever student can get 93 marks without any hardwork (just my marking all the answers)......TOI said so.
I am writing to Jee authorities..

students asking for re exam r losers , complete failure , afraid to face truth . they want to hide their own errors. as if they prepared well
nothing can stop them being an iitian.
so stop this nonsense discussion and concentrate on aieee

best of luck to all

the Question of fear to face truth does not arise, as dicussed aldready, if the papr was tough or whatever, it was tough 4 everyone , and the performance is relative....

But the main prob was lack of clarity in instructions. Most of the centres got the instruction abt filling OMR 10mins after commencement of the exam, while a few unlucky guys like me got it at 11.15, with 45 mins remaining 4 the completion of papr, and I had to erase a lot of answer and rewrite them, and spent a lot of time in it and couldnt do what I planned in the last 45 mins. And obviously, it took a toll on me and I couldn't write papr 2 with a cool mind.....
It is very bad and unfortunate if u do not do well in an exam fr no mistake of yours......

i totally agree with rahul
no where we mentioned it to be tough.....but question paper wasnt up to the mark....I dont think it was our mistake...

Yes - maths was tuff- but not undoable - if u have enuf space u surely can manage it well.....no instructions, no space, no proper marking scheme, no clarity - ho kya raha hai india me?

pankajxdx ·

About the OMR prob i would say that IITs should check that OMR sheets both the ways, first considering Q. numbering n then Subject heading... and whichever makes the higher score that should be awarded to the candidate...

and as far as sec-II prob. is concerned, it was very obvious that u don't have to mark the wrong option...(marking only correct option will award you mark, if u mark all the correct options you get 3 marks, if not all then partial marks n if you have included ny of the wrong option then you get a zero....) else even bozos will mark all the four option and get 93 mark without any effort.. and if r stupid enough to understand tat then u don't deserve to be an IITian...

if section 2 gets cancelled tht would be worth killing the professors.....as the guys like me who took pain to find out all[i m serious] correctly there r gonna repent as our major score is coming from tht section itslef.

moreover what the hell is cancelling of paper-1 is resolving???
i in paper 1 managed to score high in one subject.so in the paper two i mostly concentrated on other two....cancelling will make my efforts useless for the sake of cutoff in a subject then][7]

yeah forgot to mention i too was a sufferer of tht OMR case[2][2].but still some how managed a good score by being very cautious in marking answers...had i got instructions in time i wud have got courage to mark the sdnwers which r srtill just on my question paer out of doubt not on OMR[2]

wrt:Professor V G Idichandy, dean (students), IIT Madras, was more vocal, demanding that JEE be abolished. "One of the reasons for the poor intake of girls in the flagship BTech programme is that parents don't send daughters for coaching classes. The best way to increase the intake of girls is to have direct admissions," he said.

are we guys preparing without coachings idiots??

now it is of no use but still i m expecting if i cn clear cut offs in all three[i m doubting tht i will get a score but wont vlear cut off in all[2]].if something of cancelling paper-1 or sections goes on!!.........

morevoer reexam maybe tough and delay the COURSES AT IIT but it will give IITS a chance to clean the shit at name of JEE........

now coming to difficulty:::in maths::::::
no one needs to discuss that...infact no need.....i was getting answers tyo many by observations but but but........thts a shame again for iit......u want guys who cn think logically n get the ways to turn down a problem not SMART jobs of elimination n all tht[as asish suggested earlier].......coz those who get selected in jee this way i ask them only won't they keep searching for options for elimination even if the paper had been subjective??........n real way of solving a problem goes by methods itself......which though possible out of calculative paper was impossible so i just did soolve questions and alrready solved ones pages i torer off n used as rough[3][3][3][3]..............n at last my friends when asked where was my paper i told in dustbin perhaps[3].......lol!!!!!!!!!wat a ****[sorry cant help this is wat IITM deserves for their deeds][3][3]

i totally agree wid pankaj...(post #103)...that would eliminate all those students who say they were a prey of faulty paper...many ppl critisize d ppr just bcoz they did not score well n so find an excuse 4 not doing well...students shud have used their common sense n adopted any 1 way of filling d omr-either by ques no. or by suject heading on omr..only then shud they take a dig at d IITs...

if IIT wants 2 select d bst even now, it shud make up by checking d omr both ways...that shud be their 'punishment' 4 d mistake that they've done...n as far as partial marks r concerned, that shud b removed--- +3 for correct n 0 for all other cases shud be done...THIS wud keep every1 on equal footing...

ya i agree with qwety ................but with that i wud not get a good branch ....maybe say msc in some faltu branch ..........so will try a get into NITs ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and come back to do a MTECH at IIT ,,,,but will be back!!!!
